Rótul 2013- ongoing is a growing piece devoted to thinking about art labels as triadic semiotic symbols (sign, object, interpretation). They represent the accumulation of the artworks visited by me in a specific place, time, event or season. Art Labels, usually written by an art specialist, function as an interpreter between the work of art and the viewer. They also refer on how we are faced continually with an enormous amount of ephemeral data and information about art we view and collect, and they look back to us coining words that are referential to meaning, ergo, a work of art, a curatorial thought. They exist only in the temporary context in which they refer to. To remove them from their original context and place them with other “lost” signs extends the notion of art, of our perception and removes their utmost significance opening to new ones.
